Get your Google review link
A Google review link takes a customer straight to the review form for your business on Google. You can get yours two ways: search your business name in a free tool such as JobWrapped, or open your Google Business Profile, select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and copy the link.
Can’t find it? Paste your Google Maps link into the box. In Google Maps, open your business, tap Share, then Copy link.
How to create a Google review link
There are two ways, and both open the review form for your business on Google.
With this tool, on a phone or a computer
- Type your business name and town in the box above, or paste your Google Maps link.
- Pick your business from the list.
- Copy the link, or tap Text it to send it from your phone.
From your Google Business Profile, on a computer
- Go to your Business Profile, signed in to the Google account that manages it.
- Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews.
- Select Copy.
How to send it so people leave one
- Text it the day you finish, while the homeowner is still looking at the work.
- Keep it short and personal: their first name, the job and the link. For example: “Hi Sarah, thanks for having us out for your new fence. If you have a minute, a Google review helps us a lot: [link]”
- Ask every customer, not just the ones you think are happy. Google’s rules don’t allow picking.
- Add the link to your invoice and estimate emails, and to your email signature.
- For anything printed, like business cards or a thank-you card left at the job, use a Google review QR code instead.
Stay inside Google’s review rules
Google lets you ask customers for reviews. Its rules forbid three things contractors run into:
- offering anything for a review, like a discount, a gift card or a free add-on;
- asking only the customers you think are happy, or steering unhappy ones away;
- pressuring people, or telling them what to write.
Google says reviews gathered this way “will be removed from Maps”. Read Google’s review policy.
Questions contractors ask
Is the Google review link free?
Yes. The link and the QR code are free, and you don’t need an account. The link goes straight to Google, not through JobWrapped, so it keeps working whether or not you come back.
How do I get a Google review link without signing in to my Business Profile?
Search for your business with the tool on this page. It finds your listing on Google Maps and builds the link from its place ID, so you don’t need to sign in. If your business doesn’t show up on Google Maps yet, you need a Business Profile first.
Why does Google ask my customer to sign in?
Google only takes reviews from people signed in to a Google account. If they aren’t signed in, Google asks them to sign in first, then opens the review form.
Is this the same link Google gives me?
Not character for character. Your Business Profile gives you a short link, and this tool builds the longer form from your place ID. Both take the customer to the review form for your business, so use whichever you have.
Can I offer a discount for a review?
No. Google’s rules ban offering anything in exchange for a review, including discounts and free goods or services. Ask every customer the same way, with nothing attached.
Does the link ever stop working?
Rarely. Google says a place ID can change, for example when a business moves. If your link ever opens the wrong place or an error, search for your business here again to get a fresh one.
More than a link
JobWrapped also makes a free page for each job you finish: your photos, a thank-you note and the review button, on one link you text to the homeowner.
